Release from the Data Protection Controller: a new European regulation for personal data protection from 25th May 2016.
The Data Protection Controller, on 24th May 2016, by a release, has announced that a new European Regulation for personal data protection is in force starting from 25th May 2016.
The Regulation is part of the so-called “Data protection package”, all the rules that define a new common framework related to personal data protection for all Countries members of the European Union, and it includes too the Directive concerning the treatment of personal data in the areas of prevention, opposition and crime fighting.
The Directive, published in the Official Journal of the European Union together with the Regulation and in force since 5th May, has to be adopted by all Countries members within two years.
On the website of the Data Protection Controller is available an information page (http://www.garanteprivacy.it/pacchettoprotezionedati) where it is possible to find the rulemaking process up to now and it will be gradually enriched with updates, informative material and depths of the matter.
